Eri Silk

The peace silk — matte, warm and wool-like, spun rather than reeled.

About the Silk

What Makes Eri Silk Different

Eri comes from Samia ricini, reared largely in Assam and the North East. The moth leaves the cocoon before it is processed, so the filament is broken and must be spun like cotton or wool rather than reeled in one continuous thread. That is why it is widely known as ahimsa or peace silk.

The result is a silk that behaves very differently from Mulberry: matte instead of glossy, soft and slightly fuzzy, and genuinely warm to wear. It blends unusually well with wool and cotton.
